PUBG: Season 7 (Vikendi Update)

Back to Vikendi! For this update, we wanted to accomplish two goals. The first one was to make meaningful changes to Vikendi in order to make the game experience more enjoyable for players, analyzing their feedback and translating it into our work. The second, and where my work was mostly focused, to link our lore to our environments, evolving some of our unique locations to reflect some of the stories behind PUBG.

For this update, I lead a team that worked on transforming the good old DinoPark into this huge 60's american-like theme park called DinoLand! (not too original, let's be honest).

I art directed and supervised the creation of the park both from level design and art perspective. This was a big project, since we were fully reworking one of the iconic locations of Vikendi. We wanted to make it like a "cheap" wonderland while keeping some of the essence of the original. There is still a volcano, but this time is intimidating and spectacular. We kept the attractions from the original and expanded the number of them, giving them funny and thematic names.

We also added a train system to the map. My team was in charge on producing the train assets. I selected the real-life trains that were addecuate for the location and era of our map, and helped the artists in charge redesigning it to fit on our game.

During the production, I was also in charge to profile the map. We wanted to make Vikendi to run smoother than the initial release.

The screenshots shared in here are the result of the collaborative work of many amazing artists in PUBG.

It was important to us to create some wavy, intrincate design on the plaza floor, as we saw in many different parks. Plus, it looks amazing when parachuting down!
