PUBG: Season 4 (Erangel Remaster)

Erangel Remaster was one of those project we were so eager to jump on it. For many of us, it was our first map in PUBG, and we wanted to make it prettier than when we release it.

This project was done with the collaboration of PUBG Seoul and PUBG Madison, with Dave Curd as the Art Director for that season.
My responsibilities for this season were in three categories. The first one was to set the art direction for the buildings that were worked by my team, aligned with the initial art direction set by Dave. The second one was to schedule and supervise the tasks for my team and outsource artists, guiding them and helping them solve any art or design trouble coming along the way. The last one was to review and profile the map, keeping an eye on our memory budget, specially on textures and meshes. After the initial release of Vikendi, Michael Nastenko, one of our engineers, developped some artist-friendly tools to easily profile any map and find the performance bottlenecks. I was in charge to establish some protocols internally to review textures and meshes and write the documentation for this set of profiling tools.

The screenshots shared in here are the result of the collaborative work of many amazing artists in PUBG.
